Meet Jill

jill taylor profile

Hi! I’m Jill Taylor, owner of Happy Farmyard. I’ve been taking care of animals for over 20 years and have a BSc in Environmental Studies. I’m here to help you on your homesteading journey!

Growing up, I always had a passion for animals and caring for them. We had a small farm in the countryside, and I was always eager to get my hands dirty. My parents taught me all the basics of animal care and raising, and I was hooked.

When it came time to go to college, I knew I wanted to pursue a degree in something I was passionate about. That’s why I chose to pursue a BSc in Environmental Studies. With this degree, I learned all the ins and outs of animal and plant care and how to sustain a healthy environment.

After graduating, I decided to apply my knowledge to homesteading. I moved out of my parent’s farm and found a small plot of land I could call my own. I still use the same skills I learned in college to this day, and it’s been a great learning experience.

When I started homesteading, I naturally gravitated toward caring for animals. I have a lot of experience caring for chickens, goats, sheep, pigs, and even ducks! I also love growing my own fruits and vegetables and learning how to preserve food for long-term storage.

I started Happy Farmyard two years ago with a mission to share my knowledge and experience to help you become the best homesteader you can be. On this site, you’ll find advice and tips on everything from animal care to gardening, beekeeping, and much more.

Thank you for joining me on this journey. I’m passionate about helping people become confident homesteaders, and I’m thrilled to be able to share my experience with you!

I’m always here to answer questions and offer guidance on your journey, so don’t hesitate to reach out! I’m excited to help you make the most of your homesteading adventure. Let’s get started!

Happy homesteading!
